Children's Playground

Following a very generous donation from YEAR 7 of The Latymer School (Edmonton UK), HELP has funded the building of two children's playgrounds in Komari.

The first playground was a temporary, but badly needed structure, at the rear of the school in Komari. After the tsunami hit, the children of the village had no play facilities until the swings, roundabout and climbing frame funded by Latymer was constructed. The Trustees visited the site in July 2005 and were delighted to see the children make full use of the new structures during their breaks. It was a welcome sight amidst the rubble that continued to dominate the surrounds of the school at that time.

In the course of their visit of January 2006, the Trustees committed HELP to fund a larger and longer term playground for the village. The children of Latymer school again rose to the challenge of raising the necessary funds and we are delighted to be able to report that the facility is now complete and in full use by the Komari community and children in particular.

The children and staff of Latymer have every right to be proud of their fund raising achievements. They have brought genuine happiness to the children of Komari.
