House of English in Akkaraipattu

In conjunction with colleagues from a small UK NGO, Friends From Europe, HELP has jointly funded the second storey of a House of English (English School) in Akkaraipattu. At the time of our most recent visit in February 2007, the extension still required painting internally but we were delighted to hear that 50 juniors (aged 4-6) were making full use of the school each morning and 160 seniors (aged 7-16) each afternoon. The Principal of the school was thrilled with our contribution and we hope there may be further opportunities to work with Friends From Europe in the near future.
